March Member of the Month - Matt Formica!

How did you get involved in CrossFit?

My wife knew Ashley C. and had talked with her about how they were opening a crossfit gym. The wife dragged me to the pre-opening workout/open house event.

What was your first WOD/experience?

My first crossfit experience was during the Kilter pre-opening event. I was wearing Asics running shoes and Addias basketball shorts. I don’t remember exactly what the WOD was, but I got through less than 5 minutes of it and had to sit down. I remember Ashley C. coming over to me saying “Are you alright?” Soon after, Kilter purchased their first AED.

When did you start coming to CrossFit Kilter/ how long have you been CrossFitting for?

Day 1. I attended the first class at 6am. I think it was April 1, 2013.

When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you?

When I realized, a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and a sensible dinner was more physically challenging than I thought.

What are you short-term and long-term CrossFit goals?
Short-term:

Short and long-term crossfit goals are the same for me. Stay healthy, injury free, avoid trying to be something that I am not, and make fun of JCAR.
