MEMBER OF THE MONTH of JUNE - Nate Patton
How did you get involved in CrossFit?I had never heard of Crossfit until I watched an interview with Greg Glassman on 60 mins. His ideology about exercise just made complete sense, so I decided to give CrossFit a try.
What was your first WOD/experience? My first WOD experience was extremely embarrassing. All I remember was I had to do burpees, which made me turn white and I almost past out.
When did you start coming to CrossFit Kilter/ how long have you been CrossFitting for? Started at Kilter in December of 2015, so a total of 6 months.
When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you? Right after I got the color back in me at my first WOD.
What are you short-term and long-term CrossFit goals?
Short-term: Working on my flexibility to help with my transitions with the barbell. My clean and jerks are horrible!
Also to continue work on my cardio. Convinced the wife to let me get some expensive running shoe, so I cant really sit around on the days I'm not at the gym.
Long-term: To continue to Crossfit/workout and to stay healthy. Possibly get certified and coach one day.
What is your biggest accomplishment? Having kicked type 2 diabetes A$$!!! Thank you to the coaches and members at Kilter for helping in that beat down.
What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?
Favorite Movements: Snatch
Least Favorite Movement: Clean and Jerk (Flexibility)
What do you do for a profession outside of CrossFit? An AutoCAD designer for a company out of Mt. Prospect, IL.
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? My dogs and fishing when I find the time.
What do you do for nutrition? Do you eat Paleo or Zone? What is your favorite paleo/non-paleo meal? At the moment I do not follow a popular diet. I have type 2 diabetes, so I do have to watch my sugar and carb intake. My wife and I are going to start a strict diet together. We have gone over a bunch of different diets and are leaning towards Paleo at the moment. (Any suggestions would be great)
Fun fact about you? I see dead people!!! Just joking!! Have been told I have impeccable handwriting.
