October Member of the Month - Stacy Michael!!
Congrats to Stacy Michael our October member of the month! In the past year and a half not only did she go from being a "hater" of CrossFit to a huge lover of it, but we have also seen so many amazing accomplishments and achievements from her. One of her biggest moments was being a part of a team and competing at the Granite Games. We are so proud of how far she has come and we are excited to see where the future takes her. How did you get involved in CrossFit? My husband has done CrossFit for years prior to me trying it out. I never wanted anything to do with it. I didn't want to hear about it or talk about it. I thought it was crazy. I just ran, mainly half marathons. Then I had my second baby and pushing two kids in a stroller was not ideal and running on the treadmill was mind numbing. So a friend of ours told us about Kilter opening. It was close to our house and they were offering daycare at two different times a day, which was huge plus. So I thought what the heck I will give it a try.
What was your first WOD/experience? I don't remember the first WOD I did but I do remember going into the WOD thinking I was in pretty good shape how hard could this be. Boy was I wrong. I had no idea what I was doing, I could barely do any of the movements or lift any weight. I was sore everyday for months but loved feeling so accomplished after every work out because I knew I was getting better and stronger everyday.
When did you start coming to CrossFit Kilter/ how long have you been CrossFitting for? May 2013 is when I started at Kilter and started CrossFit
When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you? After the first class I realized CrossFit was for me. It hasn't just been about the WOD's or getting into shape for me. It's been more about the community at Kilter, the wonderful friends I have made and support from everyone. It has been such an amazing journey!
What are you short-term and long-term CrossFit goals? Short-term: To just keep improving every day Long-term: Get a muscle up
What is your biggest accomplishment? Participating in Granite Games and running my 5k in 23:37.
What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement? Favorite Movements: Hand stand push ups, box jumps and dead lifts Least Favorite Movement: Pull ups/chest to bar, snatch, double unders, ring dips
What do you do for a profession outside of CrossFit? I work for the Village of Lindenhurst
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? Hobbies? Who has time for them with 2 kids, a job and CrossFit? I used to scrap book at lot.
What do you do for nutrition? Do you eat Paleo or Zone? What is your favorite paleo/non-paleo meal? haha Paleo...no. I eat Lucky Charms for breakfast and I love pizza!
Fun fact about you? I studied abroad in Mexico and Iceland in college.
