Why Choose CrossFit Kilter?

Kilter is more than a gym, it’s a community of support, education, and encouragement to achieve your fitness goals.

We know there are many choices out there when it comes to fitness – we are in fact, bombarded by these choices on a daily basis. At CrossFit Kilter, we try to offer something different. We are a community first and foremost. CrossFit Kilter was started by a group of trainers with years of strength and conditioning experience that were sick of the same old gym experience: “check-in at the front desk, put on your iPod, zone out on some cardio machine, lift a few weights, go home”. We wanted something better, something fun, something effective, and most of all, a place we could call HOME. CrossFit Kilter provides a family atmosphere and a motivating, inspirational place to achieve your fitness goals. We like to have fun, but we are also serious about our fitness – we ask the same of our members. It doesn’t matter whether you are deadlifting 5 lbs or 500 lbs, as long as you are pushing your own personal limits we will be right there with you giving you our 110%.

We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities.  It also means that you will never get bored. With our constantly varied programming you will rarely do the same workout twice in any given year. You will never have to program your own workouts or spend hours in the gym. Instead, each day a workout will be provided for you that is scalable to suit your fitness level. And because our workouts are rarely longer than 40 minutes they can fit into even the busiest schedules.

Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten recognized fitness domains cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality

CrossFit Kilter can and will change your life – if you want to see how, just come on down and take a FREE class with us.

School of Elite Fitness

CrossFit Kilter is a school… not just another gym in Libertyville to get in a workout. Why? Because it’s a place to learn and grow – to improve your body AND your mind. To become knowledgeable in the mechanics, strengths and limitations of YOUR body. At CrossFit Kilter, we require you to think, to use your brain as well as your muscles, to learn, to challenge yourself, to try new things you never thought you could, to practice new skills that require you to be focused and present. We teach you how to move your body with proper mechanics, to get strong and fast, to increase your power output, to increase your endurance and stamina, to get flexible, stable, and balanced, and to move with grace and agility. We do this so that when you’re NOT with us, you can truly just have fun.

We Believe

We believe that fitness is a state of mind, a way of being. It shows up in the way you talk, walk, sleep, eat, work, play, dress and relax. It is the physical embodiment of the character traits of honor, courage, confidence, discipline, integrity, responsibility, dedication, and joy. It is also instrumental in reducing the immediate and cumulative effects of stress and anxiety. We’ve found that the fitter a person is, the more he/she is physically able to do the things that bring joy and fun to life – everything from feeling strong, confident and energetic through your normal work day, running around with your kids, being physically active and playing sports, to traveling to remote corners of the earth. Being physically fit is inspiring, feels good, enriches your life, and adds both years to your life, and life to your years. People that are fit seem to have a clearer, more optimistic view of life. For us, the bottom line is this: Fitness allows you to live your best.

And speaking of living your best, who do you know that when asked, would say that they don’t want to? Yet how many people do you know that actually do it? We’ve found that truly enjoying life, making the most out of it, and having fun at the same time requires desire, commitment, and action in the face of “I don’t feel like it”. It’s difficult, yet it’s also as rewarding as it gets! When you’re “Living Your Best,” you are getting the most out of life, truly “sucking it dry” – but you’re not necessarily having “fun.” Instead, you are committed, challenged, confronted, and very often afraid, and yet somehow, especially when required, you find the courage to press on. CrossFit Kilter is committed to that somehow – helping you find that ability – in your mind, and subsequently your body.

World-Class Fitness in 100 Words

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.
